Caregiver Service in Christmas for Downey Seniors

If you are looking for some extra 24 hour holiday help to caregiver service for your senior loved ones on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, look no further than A-1 Home Care for seniors in Downey and surrounding areas.  Family caregivers often stress out during the holidays because there’s not enough of them to run around and meet everyone’s needs.  From gift shopping to family dinners, being a host or traveling across the country can be quite stressful for family caregivers and their loved ones.  A-1 Home Care provides traveling companions for your elderly loved ones who want to see their children and grandchildren in distant cities and states.  We also provide local Christmas help to deck the halls of your own home with boughs of holly.

What kind of help can I expect?

Seniors with health complications need extra undivided attention.  Timely and accurate doses of medication, special diets and toileting care are part of the home care package.  If you’re running around like a chicken with its head cut off during Christmas season, paying careful attention to detail will pose as a challenge for you if you have a ton of things on your plate to think about.  Leave Christmas caregiver service to A-1 Home Care in Downey, where we will wait on your elderly loved one hand and foot!  If you need overnight care, incontinence care, arthritis care, Alzheimer’s and Dementia care or any other type of elder care that may impose extra pressure on you during the holiday season, leave it to us to take care of you and your loved ones.

About A-1 Home Care

A-1 Home Care, a non-medical home care agency, is providing Christmas caregiver service for the holiday season for seniors in Downey, Whittier, Pico Rivera, Cerritos, Norwalk, and other cities nearby.   Licensed, bonded and insured, we pre-screen all caregivers and companions before they can enter the sanctuary of your home.  If your elderly loved one would like to join his or her friends for the holidays rather than spend time alone, our caregivers will take them anywhere they want to go.  But if your parent or in-law wants to stay home but not alone, our caregivers can be great conversationalists too!

For overnight care or 24-hour live-in care, call A-1 Home Care today (562) 929-8400 or visit us online www.downeyinhomecare.com for more information.

Food after mouth surgery/ After Surgery Care in Downey

After oral surgery, soft foods are key. You should stick to soft, clear foods to promote healing. For the first day or two after surgery, you should stick to a diet of clear liquids and broth. As healing begins and pain begins to subside, you can move up to soft foods that will not break down to smaller particles such as yogurts, mashed potatoes, cooked cereals, applesauce and similar. If you must strain these foods to get rid of small particles, do so. In addition to preventing food particles from getting trapped in the wound, these foods are great for upset stomachs, which may occur a day or two after surgery.

A-1 Home Care recommends trying out one of many delicious soft food recipes. We love:

Paula Deen's "The Best Bread Pudding"
Ingredients

2 cups granulated sugar
5 large beaten eggs
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 cups cubed Italian bread, allow to stale overnight in a bowl
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
1 cup chopped pecans

For the sauce:

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup brandy

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan.

Mix together granulated sugar, eggs, and milk in a bowl; add vanilla. Pour over cubed bread and let sit for 10 minutes.

In another bowl, mix and crumble together brown sugar, butter, and pecans.

Pour bread mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set. Remove from oven.

For the sauce:

Mix together the granulated sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir together until the sugar is melted. Add the brandy, stirring well. Pour over bread pudding. Serve warm or cold.

Post Surgery or In Hospital Care for Downey Seniors

Phytochemicals are chemicals found in plant foods. "Phyto" means plant. Some phytochemicals have been studied for their potential anti-inflammatory benefits and their ability to prevent recurrence.
  • Soy. Soybeans contain phytoestrogens. These are weak estrogen-like compounds. Soybeans (also called edamame), tofu, soy milk, and miso soup all contain these phytoestrogens.
  • Antioxidants. Many vegetables, fruits, nuts, and other foods contain antioxidants. Examples of specific foods with antioxidants include broccoli, liver, and mangos. Antioxidants protect your cells from damage from "free radicals."
  • Beta-carotene. Beta-carotene gives carrots, apricots, yams, and other orange-colored vegetables and fruits their color.
  • Lycopene. Lycopene is what puts the red in tomatoes and the pink in pink grapefruit. It might also help prevent recurrence of inflammation.
